blackouts are a bummer
lately the block where i've been staying has been suffering from a series of blackout. it's like the electricity couldn't make up it's mind whether it wants to be on or off.
it all started yesterday. with the electricity dead, it was so hot that i woke up from my sleep all hot and sweaty.
blackouts are inevitable, so we figured the light might be back by night time so we packed our things and went to the studio.

the lights did came back at night, but it stopped again at 10pm. a friend was shampooing her hair half way through when the lights went out. can you imagine if i was in her place? i would have scream till the entire block of occupants could hear me. no kidding. i am afraid of the dark.
here's why:
1. it gets freakingly hot and stuffy when there's no electricity. it doesn't matter if it's night time. if there's no wind it'll get hotter sooner or latter.
2. we're staying in a university! the electricity has been off for at least 24 hours. we stayed at the studio till 8am in the morning and there is still no sign of any electricity at all. there wasn't any announcement about the blackouts at all. it's like we're left in the dark. (pun unintended)
3. it's the exam week. portfolio is 3 days away. and we're the only block affected. imagine the frustration of not working in the comfort of your own room.
4. the hall ways gets freakishly dark. it's even scarier with the emergency lights on, all blueish and dim. the whole place looks like a scene from a horror movie. the toilet is scarier. blame me for being superstitious, i was afraid to lit up candles in the toilet for fear i might summon some spirits or whatever.

5. no electricity means no charging my phone/no watching movies on my lappie/no hot water for my cup of passion fruit flavor tea.
6. one gets annoyingly lazy and sleepy when there's no fan or lights around. i'm basically slacking and there's nothing i can do but sleep, which is a waste of time when there are still tons of assignments to finish.
7. where did all the people went too? it seems that my floor mates just disappears when the lights went off. the whole place is so quiet that you can hear a needle drop. now that's scary times gazillion times, because now you can hear things that you normally don't and your mind starts to twist all the sounds into something scary. refer to no. 4.
8. i can't bath nor pee.
9. my mind starts to play games with me by inserting pictures of ghost/scenes from horror movies.
i'm a coward when there's no light. i can't live without electricity. i thank mr. edison for inventing light bulbs.
how did people ever live without electricity back in the days?

i end up packing my clothes and shampoos and laptop and crashed at my course mate's block which is not affected. i did surprise myself by walking to their block alone in the dark. alone! (i hereby announce that i have conquer my fear of the dark, for the time being ;p) my roomie went for badminton with my other friends. i so want to join but hey, there's work to do!
so there, blackout sucks. but really, i wonder how will it feel like when the whole university went blackout for a whole 24 hours. one can only wonder...
well, at least u're having blackout on the verge of portfolio.
