a tribute to

MJ.

i'm not sure why artist/personalities/musician (hah famous people to cut it short) are only respected (well some are lucky enough to be respected when they where alive), and appreciated only after they die. yes, so ruthless but that's the truth anyway. or maybe it's just human nature to not speak ill of the dead.

well unlike some people who's life has been touched or inspired by MJ , i was just some girl who happen to have listened to his song, and to me MJ was a black guy with white skin and the one who had invented the moonwalk.

i was really young at the time when he was at the peak of his career, and he did came to Malaysia for a concert once, you know how the crowd went. i knew MJ was a guy, but remember there was this music video with him wearing just a shirt? i think it was a black one, his looks was so androgynous that i thought that person was a female but i was confused as well because the voice doesn't sound like one. i guess that was the time when he just finish transforming ( from black to white, and his nose was still intact, and i have to admit he was quite good looking back then ). the maid had to convince me that it was actually MJ (heck i was still in kindergarten then and i didn't know there was a difference between a man and women's chest =.=')

and i couldn't understand why a cute black guy went and change his body, or should i say transform, to white? (i actually thought he went and peel the black one away and put on a new plastic , white layer instead). when he was charged for child molestation i seriously didn't know which side should i stand on, and even believe that he was innocent but the media wasn't exactly on his side either because of all the bizarre antics that he was always up to, and the fact that his looks was starting to get weirder and weirder.

my respect for him only started to grow after i watch the show "this is it". i know it's another of the media's ploy (read: MJ's coworkers and all the people who filmed that show to earn some easy cash), personally i felt as viewers we shouldn't have been charge to watch the show but i sincerely hope that all the money from the ticket sales (some, hopefully) accumulated from this tribute/movie is given to MJ's children for their future use.

the show actually showed how talented MJ is, and how dedicated he was in the music industry especially, in to doing what he love most, which is performing, singing and dancing, and all the sweat and strength he threw in just for the upcoming comeback concert, the never ending rehearsals, and his knack for perfection, i admit i was deeply amazed by this side of MJ that we never knew (me!)

the fact that his death was so sudden i actually thought it was a hoax (no way!!) but it happened. MJ's life growing up wasn't really easy either, but i truly believe that he did his part when he was alive, as a son, father and a human being, well his kids did grow up ok didn't they?

but a part of me felt his death was a life wasted, and it happened because the public was really unforgiving towards him, and they never really did gave him a chance to turn on a new leaf did they?

so here's to you, MJ. i know life hasn't been really fair to you sometimes, but hopefully you're at a better place now, and you'll always be king of pop.period. rest in peace.
